Cutaneous Laser Treatment
Cutaneous laser treatment is clinically proven to be an effective treatment for telangiectasias (spider veins), hemangiomas or cherry angiomas, and age spots. With this procedure, a laser is applied to the surface of the skin, removing veins and blemishes from sight. Depending on the severity of the spider vein condition, this treatment may be used in conjunction with sclerotherapy or Veinwave™.
How Laser Treatment Works
Cutaneous laser treatment is an outpatient procedure that selectively targets blood vessels in diseased veins. The laser lightly heats the vessels and causes the blood to coagulate, which causes the problematic vein to start breaking down. During the healing process, the treated blood vessels are reabsorbed by the body and the veins disappear. Additional sessions are required in many cases in order to achieve optimum results.
Typically, patients report very little discomfort; however, some might feel a slight stinging sensation when the laser is first applied to the skin. The procedure is similar to other spider vein removal treatments because it is over in minutes and there is no downtime required.
Age Spot Removal
Cutaneous laser treatment is also very effective at removing blemishes from the skin, such as sun spots and age spots. The skin absorbs the light from the laser, immediately stimulating the skin to begin repairing itself. This repairing process creates collagen, and this collagen begins to heal the blemish. You can opt to have any of these marks removed during the course of your spider vein treatment.
